Kenny
Schroeder began installing carpet when he was 15 years old. He was taught
the trade by his father Kenneth Schroeder and his brother in-laws. By the
age of 18, Kenny was a full time installer. Kenny always dreamed to
venture out and someday open a flooring store of his own.

Kenny’s
father, Kenneth Schroeder Sr. (pictured center), was considered to be one
of the very first local carpet service’s in the McHenry County Area. Since
the 1950’s Ken Sr. was teaching the trade to many guys who needed work
including the boyfriends of his two daughters Linda and Sue. Linda’s
boyfriend John N. Curran Sr. became her husband in 1973. Sue went on to
marry her boyfriend Dan Kinzie in 1974. John and Dan were responsible for
showing Kenny the "tricks of the trade".

The late
1970’s came around and Kenny was now a full time installer before the
early age of 18. Kenny was born of his father’s hard working blood and let
no time pass before spreading his knowledge of carpet to his nephews. In
the mid 1980’s, John Curran’s oldest son John Jr. and his youngest son
Jeff were brought on the job to share in the family tradition. John Jr.
was no older than 11 and Jeff was no older than 7 when they helped their
father John and Uncle Kenny on a carpet job.

Twenty years
of installing carpet and vinyl and sub-contracting for many north west
suburban carpet stores had finally directed Kenny to use his knowledge of
the industry and open Kenny’s Floor Covering in McHenry IL. In 1996,
Kenny’s Floor Covering opened a small, but comfortable showroom. The
family business grew rapidly, and forced Kenny to move to a location
double in size.

Kenny and his
family used their experience in customer service and professional
installation to be their trademark of business. By 2007 Kenny’s has been
delighted to service over 10,000 homes! Quality,
Satisfaction, Customer Service and Expert Installations have been the
mission of Kenny’s Floor Covering since the beginning.
